Things to Do on a Rainy Day In SoCal at Universal Studios Hollywood

Saturday, July 18th came to me a surprise to me as it started to rain like crazy. With thunderstorms and lightning in the forecast, I thought it would be a good time to write about some things you can do in the rain at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Luckily, Universal Studios Hollywood has almost all its attractions inside of a building, unlike other theme parks. The only attractions that are outdoors are: The Studio Tour, WaterWorld, Universal’s Animal Actors, and Jurassic Park: The Ride. In the past I have visited in the rain, and I can tell you that it is a pretty unique experience because many visitors want to visit on a sunny, blue sky day. Here are some things I like to do when I go on a rainy day.

1. The Studio Tour

It is ironic for me that I chose The Studio Tour as my number 1 choice. What I find to be epic is that the tour operates in the rain, and for those who were wondering, on each side of the tram there is a plastic covering so you don’t get wet during the duration of the tour. You get to see to see the Flash Flood in reality, haha. Lots of other locations look cool with the damp road, giving off that aroma of asphalt.

2. Springfield

Springfield is a great place to stay indoors. On rainy days, the park offers complimentary hot chocolate and coffee on the second level of Krusty Burger. You can also purchase food down on the first level if you are also hungry. Definitely highly recommend if you plan on going on a rainy day.

3. Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem

If your looking for something to do, like go on a ride, Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem is a great choice! I personally enjoy the attraction as in my opinion has a great environment, the queue is covered, and a great family attraction. Who doesn’t enjoy minions?? Then you can go out to Super Silly Fun Land and run for your life! Haha. If you adults want to grab a beverage while the rest of your party goes on Minion Mayhem, Mulligan’s Pub is nearby so you can drink your alcoholic beverages.

4. Revenge of the Mummy – The Ride

If you are a thrill seeker, and it’s pouring rain, Revenge of the Mummy is the coaster to go on (Even though it’s the park’s only roller caster). It is an indoor high speed roller coaster with a backwards sections that most guests won’t know about. I love this coaster since it is a unique coaster with a dark ride portion, then the main “meat” of the ride, which of course is the roller coaster part.

5. Transformers: The Ride 3D

Transformers: The Ride 3D luckily has a large indoor queue, so you can stay away from the rain. It is Universal Studios Hollywood’s most technologically advanced attraction they offer. Back when Transformers opened in 2012, I set an unofficial record of riding it 15 times in a row (Official record for riding Jurassic Park: The Ride was recently broken), and I have never experienced an attraction like this in my life. I’ve never been on the Spiderman ride at Islands of Adventure in Orlando, so it was a first for me.

Well that’s going to do it! Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed this article!
